Ellis, Henta: Beautiful Creation

It has been quiet an astonishing year for two of my favorite singers and Facebook friends. First Laura Casale released her long awaited debut album full of her story of redemption and conversion to Christianity. Now Henta Ellis releases her follow up album to Butterfly Song; Beautiful Creation, full of 13 songs of praise and worship for The Christ. Her songs were inspired by the passage in the Bible from Psalm 139:13-15:

"For you formed my inward parts, You knitted me together in my mother's womb I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, Wonderful are your works My soul knows it very well…"

The album was released in November to coincide with the coming season of worship for the season of the birth of Jesus.

Joining Henta, who sings all lead vocals, with supporting vocals from Jacob Grove on "Build Your House on the Rock", are: Karl Vanden Bossche who provides percussion. Neville Malcolm performs double bass: Jessica Papkoff plays guitar; Allen Larsen plays drums; Roger Beardsley plays bass; Jacob Grove also provides, guitar, banjo, and jaw harp on "Build Your House on the Rock" and other tracks of the album. The Anamchara Choir, featuring: Jacob & Abigail Grove, Caoimhe & Clint Dunn, and Roger Beardsley, sing back – up on "Build Your House on the Rock". Ryan Donnelly plays double bass on "Our God Promises".

These thirteen worship psalms or songs of worship and praise will both elevate your thinking and increase your joy with their warmth and melodies. You will appreciate their originality and heart-felt sincerity. Henta's gift to listeners is sharing this special treasure she found with all of her friends and the rest of the world.

As Henta states, "So many elements of God's creation have been hand-knitted into these songs to help you hear, see and feel not only my story, but also words of revelation breathed to me by God".

With all that is going on in the world recently, this album is the perfect breath of fresh air that the world needs to distract it permanently from its violent and uncaring present. Listening to Henta bear her feelings and devotion to her salvation with songs of prayer for the wisdom and mercy of the future, was one of the best sounds I encountered during this sacred season.

Even if you are not a Christian you can be inspired by Henta's devotion and the words she shares of the promise the religion makes to the world. Instead of judging its past, listen to one of its voices of the present and future as she unveils her personal reflection on what The Christ and his teachings mean to her.

Highly recommended.
