My Own Ghost came into existence in 2013. Unusually, the band comes from a mix of Germany and Luxembourg and features guitarist Fred Brever, bassist Joe May, six-stringer David Soppelsa , vocalist Julie Rodesch (Providers, Seven Days On Fire) and German drummer Michael Stein, best known for his work with Red Circuit. The publicity about the band describes them as, "Evanescence meets Fleetwood Mac with indie touches," whilst I would place them as being a pop band with slightly Gothic leanings which when it works at its best as on "Lost" is pretty seductive stuff.
There are a number of powerful hard driving pop tunes on Love Kills such as the aforementioned "Lost" which is immediately followed by the equally pulsating "Waiting in the Wings" then "Crystal Ball", both of which heavily feature synths and catchy choruses which to me evoke Ultravox with a female vocalist. If I ever listened to the radio (and there really is no point in the UK) this is what I would imagine what would sound great in a car and would pass the hours away well.
