Tempo Of The Damned was the last Exodus album to feature lead vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza, that was until 2014 as he has now of course reunited with the classic thrash band in place of Rob Dukes. Released in 2004 Tempo Of The Damned is a thrash metal gem and still remains one of Exodus' top albums, since they formed way back in 1980. Tempo Of The Damned is such a fine example of what a thrash metal release done right sounds like, and literally blows the doors off many other so called thrash releases.
Steve Souza delivers his distinctive vocals with such vigour and Tom Hunting's explosive drum work is stellar as always. But it's the smoking guitar duo of Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt that steal the show on Tempo Of The Damned unleashing some of the most addictive riffs and scintillating solos, "Forward March" includes a fantastic extended solo passage. Not an album featuring flat to the floor speedsters you have the multi speed metal tracks such as " Scar Spangled Banner" and "Temple Of The Damned" and mid paced ultra catchy groovers like "Blacklist" and "Sealed With A Fist".
Tempo Of The Damned is the kind of album where you will be listening to a song and thinking "wouldn't it be so cool if they played that next", and much to your delight Exodus do just that. If you are not familiar with Tempo Of The Damned then it remains a great example of what Exodus can achieve when firing on all cylinders. For those who do have it then what a fun classic album to pass the time with while we eagerly await their impending new release Blood In, Blood Out.
