Destruktor/Throneum: A Prophecy of Nihilism (Split 7")

Australia's death metal merchants Destruktor team up with Poland's underground black/death metal horde Throneum on this two track Split 7" titled A Prophecy of Nihilism for the Hell's Headbangers label. "Besieged" is the offering from Destruktor, a fun near 4-minute ride into rampaging death metal, crushing riffs, blast beats, and furious growls all the rage as the band dishes out the brutality in fine fashion. Nothing you haven't heard before, but these Aussie's certainly know how to serve up solid extreme metal. "Chtonian Lust" on the other hand, sounds like it was recorded in a cave back in 1987, Throneum seem to be going for that underground Mayhem/Bathory/Hellhammer sound, as this one is as raw & primal as it gets. As far as the arrangements go, it's a good one, with some effective riffing, hard hitting blast beats, and echo laden, tortured vocal wails from the pits of hell. For a quick taste of what these two underground extreme metal acts have to offer, this one is worth looking into.
