Miss Behaviour: Double Agent

You've got to doff your cap to bands like Miss Behaviour, who are yet another in the long line of Swedes and fellow Scandies seemingly unable to rest until they've breathed new life into old Melodic Rock ideals. It's become easy to knock this kind of stuff, yet, when it's done well - and it is here - there's no denying that a killer chorus, catchy hookline and soaring mesh of keyboards crashing headlong into upbeat guitar solos, is grin inducing stuff.

Now three albums into their MHR journey (no pun intended - Double Agent is far from simply relying on Neal Schon and the boys for inspiration), Miss Behaviour sound extremely comfortable in these surrounds, but cleverly not in a way that suggests simple box ticking, or painting by numbers. Instead the title track combines a mid-paced confidence to a sprightly keys sprinkled chorus, having you bouncing and bobbing, even as you try to resist, while "Love Reflector" ups the energy to positively dazzle and delight through its sheer OTT exuberance.

Singer Sebastian Roos has one of those voices which straddles good time throwawayness and pinpoint power, while guitarist Erik Heikne and keyboardist Henrik Sproge really do set sparks flying with some of their playful, yet fiery interactions. Add in the more subtle strains of "Dancing With Danger", where patience is shown as the melodies build and build, or closing number "Silver Rain", which brings those most 80s of words together - Power and Ballad - to quite stunning effect, and Double Agent becomes a proud and assured step that should announce Miss Behaviour as main players in this most Scandinavian of markets. Melodic Rockers the world over should take note.
