Kissin' Dynamite: Megalomania

I am a bit of a fan of Germany's Kissin' Dynamite so it isn't much of a surprise that I'm giving this one thumbs up. I am by no means certain that it is the best album in their discography yet, in fact I'm almost sure that it isn't. That's because of the high esteem in which I hold 2010's Addicted to Metal and in many ways Megalomania is a very different beast.

Addicted to Metal is much more glam and over-the-top than Megalomania as evidenced by their record company AFM suggesting that the band has become, "A touch more modern they have become, more edgy and more self-confident … they haven't lost anything of their originality, freshness and unadulteratedness." Guitarist Ande Braun adds, "We wanted to break new ground, that's for sure." Both these comments have more than a ring of truth although in essence the band remains expert at delivering soaring, captivating choruses. It just happens that as I'm typing "Ticket to Paradise" is playing and it's as catchy as all hell but I could have picked any song on the album right from the opening chants of "DNA". "Fireflies" is the big ballad and "Legion of the Legendary" is the song which really displays the band's change from Wigwam style glamsters to serious hard rockers.
