Deathcore upstarts Suicide Silence have certainly been through a lot the last few years. With the tragic death of vocalist Mitch Lucker now behind them and things seemingly going smooth with their new record label Nuclear Blast, the band have focused heavily on the music, and You Can't Stop Me is a pretty solid effort that might not be pushing the envelope much or changing the formula, but it still delivers plenty of the brutality that the band is known for. New singer Eddie Hermida fits right in here, his screaming, growling vocalizations stabbing through the requisite miasma of crushing riffs and pummeling breakdowns on tunes such as "Inherit the Crown" and the brutal yet slightly industrial "Sacred Words". Cannibal Corpse vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher lends his support on the furious "Control", and the mighty "Warrior" is filled with some seriously crushing breakdowns that you can't help but take notice of. Sure, if you've been bored with deathcore for years now, there's probably nothing here on You Can't Stop Me that will change your mind of that, but to be honest this is really well done stuff that is heavy & brutal enough that any extreme metal fan will find hard to ignore. Other tracks of note include the mashing fury that is "Monster Within", the slightly progressive "Ouroboros", and the lethal title cut. It all proves that Suicide Silence are still more than capable of doing what they do best, and no doubt Mitch is looking down on them with a big smile on his face.
