Swashbuckle: We Hate the Sea

Swashbuckle's people make much of their previous relationship with Nuclear Blast the respected European record label. Now on Get This Right Records I can only imagine that this is because somebody at Nuclear Blast heard this EP and decided to pass. Let us be clear; I really like metal with pirate inflections but this is deeply disappointing. I played it in the car and my younger son opined that he couldn't tell a word of what was being said and that is a very valid criticism indeed.

Swashbuckle's core duo of the brilliantly named bassist/vocalist Admiral Nobeard, and guitarist/backing vocalist Commodore RedRum have produced an EP which is technically fine as a mix of technical and death metal but unfortunately forgot to write anything memorable either in terms of lyrics (which are incredibly difficult to decipher,) riffs or tunes. A major disappointment.
