A new Italian band that will no doubt have metal fans singing their praises once they hear their songs is Noveria. Noveria's debut is Risen and this dynamic progressive metal group have a line-up featuring two members of the popular European metal group DGM.
You often see the term multi-instrumentalist well there should be another like say "multi-bandmemberist", with so many spreading themselves between various acts. Keyboardist Emanuele Casali is also in the progressive band's DGM and Astra and bass player Andrea Arcangeli is a member of both DGM and Solisia. They aren't Noveria's only links to DGM as producer/musician Simone Mularoni who is DGM's guitarist and also a member of the ultra heavy Empyrios mixed and produced Risen. Simone also contributed with a guitar solo on the song "Fallen From Grace". Completing Noveria's line-up is vocalist Frank Corigliano with former Baton Rogue Morgue member Francesco Mattei on guitars who does a fine job on this album and drummer Omar Campitelli.
The drums are sounding for a brief atmospheric instrumental introduction "The New Age" as Noveria then kick it into gear for the vibrant tile track "Risen". Where this first track is more in that Symphony X kind of vein the electrifying melodic power metal of bands like Firewind is more in sync with the thunderous second number "Downfall". "Paralysis" is another good one which has powerful grooving from their able drummer Omar Campitelli and an ultra-heavy guitar sound. "Fear" screams out of the start gate with frantic drumming before slipping into one of the glorious metallic grooves as the song goes on the tempo shifts. "Fallen From Grace" is slower and still packs a punch with Noveria's crunching riffs.
What Risen has to offer is a metal album with no fillers, a release that solely features quality songs by a band called Noveria, one with some very talented members.
