I knew upon my first listen to Adrenaline Rush's debut album that there was something vaguely familiar about it and then I bothered to read the press stuff which came with it and I noticed the name of Erik Martensson (Eclipse, W.E.T) amongst the credits – in the producer's chair no less and the good feeling I already had became even warmer. Martensson has a muscular yet melodic style which I very much appreciate. Normally his work is melodic rock with a kind of Whitesnake vibe (see Eclipse's Battlegrounds,) here in league with vocalist Tåve Wanning (formerly part of the Teen-Pop duo Peaches) he summons up his inner Hair Metal beast and helps to provide a satisfying, melodic hard rocking set of tunes.
Infectious songs are all over this album especially "Want it All" which is fist-pumpingly pleasing and has been on repeat play on my numerous devices for a while now much to the annoyance of my loved ones. With the help of Ludvig Turner - lead guitar, vocals, Alexander Hagman - guitar, vocals, Soufian Ma'Aoui - bass, vocals, Marcus Johansson – drums the mid-section of the album is particularly strong with "Want it All" being followed by the equally fine "Too Young to Die" which possesses similar toe-tapping qualities. In fact there isn't a dud on this accomplished debut and the future looks bright for Adrenaline Rush.
