All the Way is the debut album from Swedish quintet Stare of Salazar and should apparently appeal to fans of Toto (hmm, not sure about that one,) Styx (certainly true especially judged by the backing vocals on the title track), Queen (nowhere near as bombastic or as well produced,) Journey (ditto) and Survivor (the prominence of the keyboards have an echo of that band.) I was listening to this yesterday on a rare sunny Lancastrian afternoon and it struck me that in many ways this is the ideal summer-type melodic rock album – it's relentlessly sunny and upbeat, has a big ballad ("Love of My Life") and is pretty safe, you could certainly play it to your mother!
The band I think are most similar to State of Salazar are Joe Vana's Mecca and a good number of these songs especially "Eat Your Heart Out" would fit quite snuggly on Mecca's classic debut album. This isn't quite a classic but it is very much the kind of record to drive down the open highway with your girl and pretend that it is any time in the 1980s when life was much simpler than it is now.
