There are so many enticing French metal groups like Adagio, Fairyland, Heavenly and Venturia and here is another the band Nightmare. Nightmare are by no means a new addition as it was actually 35 years ago in 1979 when the band first surfaced, and while the French metal group did split-up later in the eighties they reunited in 1999. Nightmare have successfully kept it rolling since touring with the likes of Saxon, Grave Digger and Blind Guardian, playing major festivals and releasing new albums and the latest is The Aftermath .
With their foundations in classic heavy/power metal Nightmare have kept up with times as they have a current sound fans for fans of modern potent metal groups including Mystic Prophecy and Brainstorm. The Aftermath is my first taste of Nightmare and vocalist Joe Amore has a strong clean style that reminds of Nils Patrik Johansson (Astral Doors, Lion's Share, Wuthering Heights). "Bringers of a No Man's Land" shows Nightmare have that knack of being writing addictive melodic songs while retaining a heavy edge with some cool extra touches like the prominent bass sound. Nightmare create a mighty wall of sound for "Forbidden Tribe" and the kick drums are in demolition mode for "Necromancer", while the band is then "Invoking Demons" with more desirable mid paced metal.
The Aftermath isn't a mind blowing technical metal release it's simply one packed with constant stirring power packed music.
