Orange Goblin: Healing Through Fire (reissue)

English Stoner Metallers, Orange Goblin, have righted a wrong and have properly had their 2007 effort, Healing Through Fire (Candlelight Records) reissued stateside to fill in the gap of their catalog for U.S. fans. This reissue contains 11 tracks in total, including 2 live bonus tracks and is worth the wait and filled with the glorious riffage that Orange Goblin have become known for.

Healing Through Fire is a straight ahead, heavy groove machine. Riffs are massive and tight with just the right amount of sludge. Made up of equal parts Sabbath, Motorhead, Skynryd and Kyuss, Orange Goblin deliver a truly unique blend of Metal. It is a shame that it has taken 7 years for the U.S. fans to properly get an earful of the greatness that this record contains. From the almost Southern Rock vibe of "Beginner's Guide To Suicide", to the raucous groove of "They Come Back (Harvest Of Skulls)", to the Corrosion of Conformity-like heavy filth that is "Hounds Ditch", these guys were on fire on this disc.

Healing Through Fire is Orange Goblin's 6th release and I for one am very happy that this record is finally seeing its proper release here in America. It is a thick and tough record that is heavy and dirty while at the same time offers up a breather in the Southern-like overtones also found within. This record captures O.G. firing on all cylinders and was the prelude to the opus that was to come in the form of their stellar, A Eulogy For The Damned album from 2012.
