Allegaeon: Elements of the Infinite

Elements of the Infinite was recorded, mixed and mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio in Colorado Feb-April 2014 and finds itself on the shelves just a few weeks later. With a new line-up of Ezra Haynes – vocals, Michael Stancel – guitar, Greg Burgess – guitar, Corey Archuleta – bass and Brandon Park – drums Allegaeon have laid down a real marker for those who like technical death metal. Guitarist Greg Burgess is on record as saying, "We're very proud of this record, hopefully it will live up to what our fans have come to expect from us."

He and the rest of the band have every right to be proud of their latest absolutely shit-kicking effort. From beginning to end Allegaeon put the metaphorical pedal to the equally metaphorical metal and spectacularly take on the world with their brand of high octane metal. The whole album is like being pulverised by a very angry gorilla in a steel cage, constantly pummelling drums, insane guitar leads topped off by the fearsome vocals of Ezra Haynes all contribute to what is sure to be one of the best releases of 2014. That would all be good enough in itself but all the songs are excellent as well AND the video for "1.618" is a work of genius. Give it a look and then go buy the album.
