Here's another solid new release from Cruz del Sur, the latest from Greek power metal titans Battleroar. Blood of Legends is the fourth album from this veteran band, and comes six years after their last release To Battle and Beyond. Their epic style of power metal is once again in fine form, as energetic songs littered with tales of bloody battles, wars, and sorcery combine with plenty of raging guitar riffs, galloping rhythms, and the occasional folky violin passage. It's almost like a combination of Kansas and Sabaton on tracks like "Poisoned Well", "Stormgiven", and the soaring title track, while "The Swords are Drawn" is just good old fashioned war-themed power metal, with blistering guitar work, gruff vocals, and neck snapping rhythms. "Immortal Chariot" is another highlight, the chugging riffs and venomous vocals working overtime, while "Valkyries Above Us" adds in plenty of prog & folk elements into the crushing metal mix.
Anyone who loves epic war/fantasy tinged books, movies, and heavy metal, should get quite a thrill out of Blood of Legends. This is grandiose & powerful stuff folks.
