Wicked Inquisition: Silence Thereafter

Minnesota hard rock/doom act Wicked Inquisition pound out 4 tracks of crushing, old school heaviness on their new EP Silence Thereafter for Tridroid Records. Listing inspirations such as Black Sabbath, Budgie, Trouble, and Blue Oyster Cult, you can pretty much guess that this EP is going to lay those riffs on thick in true '70s/early '80s fashion, and it doesn't disappoint. "Brainstorm" rumbles and tumbles with some fine riffage and beefy grooves, while "Radius of Fear" could have easily been a leftover track from either Sabbath's Master of Reality album or the great Tyranny of Mutation by the legendary BOC. "The Jester's Clown" combines Budgie's thudding power with the doom laden menace of Trouble, and "Blue Nightshade" is a brief instrumental that shows the band also have a deft touch up their sleeve when needed. Though quite brief, Silence Thereafter is good stuff, and I'll certainly be looking out for their next platter of vintage sounding heaviness.
