Fuoco Fatuo: The Viper Slithers in the Ashes of What Remains

This is amongst the most niche releases I have had the pleasure of reviewing in all my time doing this job. You'll either get Fuoco Fatuo and their debut album or you'll want to run away screaming. This is as doomy as it gets. There's nothing here to leaven the doom at all. Just look at the song titles as a guide. Most of the album is resolutely played at funereal pace and is supremely heavy. One has to give the band kudos for their unfeasibly uncommercial sound and for fans of the genre this will be something for them to absolutely cream themselves over. Non-fans may find less to love.
