Here's some US black metal (from Providence, RI of all places) from a band that calls themselves Bog of the Infidel. One of their latest EPs To Corrupt Your Sons and Lust After Your Daughters features 4 songs of raw, primal black metal that hints at the glorious Norwegian & Swedish scenes of the classic era. Bits of Dissection, Emperor, Ulver, and Darkthrone abound here, as Bog of the Infidel weave melodic atmosphere with some truly pulverizing arrangements long on flailing drum blasts, razor sharp riffs, and moaning vocal growls & wails. "Burnt Offerings" has a good amount of all these elements, while "As Satan's Pale Serpent Eye Waxes Full" just crushes with evil intent. Solid stuff all around, so if you like underground US black metal that's not afraid to show its influences, you could do much worse than check this one out...despite the horrific cover art.
