Lover Under Cover: Into the Night

Featuring members of Coldspell, Last Autumns Dream and Treat as well as production by Martin Kronlund, Into the Night was never going to be a dud was it? In fact it's very good from beginning to end and the final track is the one which fully exemplifies the (many) strengths and (few) weaknesses of the album. "No Place Like Hom" is the tune in question and it is highly melodic with a nifty hook, solid instrumentation, gritty vocals and a nice short solo which would once have fitted into radio formats well. The drawback is that it's very…nice, clean, arguably quite sterile and I can see why that criticism could be levelled at the album as a whole as this album will appeal to the (dwindling?) melodic rock crowd – and they, like me will find much to enjoy.
