Chapel: Satan's Rock N Roll

Noisy, filthy, heavy, and a hell of a lot of fun...that's the best way to describe Satan's Rock N Roll, the debut release from the Canadian trio known as Chapel. This is old school styled extreme metal, somewhat like the bastard child of Venom and Motorhead, complete with speedy, galloping rhythms, buzzsaw guitars, and harsh, gravelly vocals. Honestly, if you put this album on and knew nothing about it, you'd swear it came out in 1982 as part of some underground heavy metal cassette release. So, throw on your old patch & pin encrusted vest, slip on this studded bracelets, and get ready for some grimy, sweaty heavy metal with tracks like "Hell Breaks Loose", "Nocturnal Blasphemy", "Satanist", and the kick ass title track. "Motorcult" is another ferocious headbanger, guaranteed to get your air guitar firing away, and "Trashed" is a thrashy/black metal/rock song that could have been an odd leftover from the Kill 'Em All, Bomber, or Show No Mercy sessions. It's not polished, it's not pretty, but Satan's Rock N Roll certainly does what it sets out to do, which is kick your ass in classic metal fashion.
