Nigromante: Black Magic Night

Shadow Kingdom Records big cheese Tim McGrogran is obviously a big fan of Spaniards Nigromante who get in early for 2014 with the release of Black Magic Night. He says, "They've been around since 2003 trying to perfect their Heavy Metal sound. Spain hasn't exactly been a melting pot for Classic Heavy Metal, so we're very lucky to find such a great band there." He goes on to point out NWOBHM influences as well as Sabbath, Priest and Anvil. Unfortunately Anvil are the most apt comparison as there's precious little on Black Magic Night to dislike (apart from the unfeasibly rubbish "Satan Death Squad") but absolutely nothing to get excited about either.

The guitars are really good especially on "In Nomine Pater" but there's such a lack of all round originality that I can't imagine being drawn back to this once I've finished this review. Time to delete this one from the generic MP3 device.
