Old Man's Will: Old Man's Will

Out now on Transubstans Records in Europe and soon to be released here in the US on February 24, 2014 on Easy Rider Records is the self-titled debut from Swedish heavy rockers Old Man's Will. Featuring current Gin Lady guitarist Klas Holmgren, the impressive vocal talents of Benny Åberg, and the driving rhythm team of bassist Tommy Nilsson and drummer Gustav Kejving, Old Man's Will have put together a fun, groove laden, '70s styled hard rock album that will instantly appeal to fans of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Cactus, Humble Pie, UFO, Grand Funk Railroad, and Leaf Hound. Just listen to those irresistible riffs and Aberg's soaring vocals on the heavy "Why Deprive Me?", the alluring Hammond organ soaked "Smidesvals", or the sweaty, ball-bustin' blues rock of "Judgement Day" for some splendid '70s sounds. Holmgren's twisting, turning riffs run circles around the swirling rhythms on "An Annobling Evening", and Aberg's stunning vocals just drip classic R&B on the emotional "Ellington" as well as "Ålidhem". He's really a find, and his superb vocal display just might be the MVP of this album, but honestly, this is a cookin' band who all deserve credit for putting this barnburner of an album together.

I know you've heard me praise all sorts of hard rock worship on a host of Swedish bands over the last few years, but here's another one that you need to add to your 'must hear' list. If you are already enjoying acts like Witchcraft, Graveyard, Horisont, Gin Lady, Troubled Horse, Captain Crimson, Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell, as well as other international bands like Zodiac, Scorpion Child, and The Vintage Caravan, then make sure you go out and grab a copy of this cool little old fashioned hard rock gem.
