Wrong: Memories of Sorrow

Take a look at the titles here, "Through This Slit", "I Want To Hear You Scream", "Memories of Sorrow", "I Prefer So", and tell me what you would expect. Certainly not Captain and Tenille or The Carpenters. Probably something akin to Alice Cooper meets Child Abuse being chaperoned by Car_Bomb. What we get is the black metal version of Ross from Friends keyboard antics, not Springtime pop ala "Muskrat Love" (that song is awesome by the way) and not rip your face off while eating razor blades ala Car_Bomb, but rather, how do I put this delicately, monotonous, gentle Black Metal background music. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Wrong, they just don't live up to their expectations.

If I was going to invent a Black Metal elevator music loop, Wrong would be on the top of the list. Everything about the disc is passable, but not repeatable. "Now I Remember" is not memorable, "I Want To Hear You Scream" contains screams, but that's about all, and "I Prefer So" made me want to prefer to turn this disc off. Don't get me started with "Through This Slit" …. I could spend a page or more laboring through the potential with that title.

Here is what I struggled with most on this review, their press material uses these tags "atmospheric black metal black metal dsbm depressive black metal metal post black metal abandonment despair dystopia misery negativity pain sorrow suicidal black metal" but the only despair and depressive thoughts I had were of having to listen to this album more than once.

1.5 stars. (The album art gets them a full point)
