Benedictum: Obey

As Female-fronted metal act Benedictum return from the netherworld with their fourth record I have to confess that much, nay all of their previous work has left me colder than the extremities of a polar bear. A new line-up has been built around core members Veronica 'The V' Freeman and Pete Wells. Rikard Stjernquist, formerly of Jag Panzer, has joined the ranks and "Working with Rikard has been a joy and I am learning a lot" says The V. Aric Avina formerly of Tynator is now manning the bass guitar. With Jeff Pilson, Craig Goldy and Rudy Sarzo making guest appearances one would hope that Obey would be a real winner.

Unfortunately I can't deliver that news. There's plenty of attitude, quite a lot of gusto, many riffs…but not very much at all in the way of memorable songs. Sadly, in some cases ("Die to Love You") there are some utter stinkers. Numerous listens have revealed that none of the tracks have stuck in my mind although the title track sounds great whilst it's on but I can't remember it when I'm looking at the list below and as for starting a song with a motorcycle revving up in 2013 (Apex nation)? Don't get me started. A major disappointment.

Track Listing:
1. Dream Of The Banshee
2. Fractured
3. Obey
4. Fighting For My Life
5. Scream
6. Evil That We Do
7. Crossing Over
8. Cry
9. Thornz
10. Die To Love You
11. Apex Nation
12. Retrograde
