Tides from Nebula: Eternal Movement

I try to avoid reading any promo material before listening to music when it comes to these reviews. I don't want my critique filtered through easily-defined genres or hip key-words. It was after I listened to Eternal Movement that I read the phrase "post-rock" and I'm still not sure why this tag was placed on Tides from Nebula, but when people only take a few minutes to read a review, this habit is forgivable.

This music is instrumental progressive rock, but to avoid the thought that this is Scale the Summit or Chimp Spanner or Canvas Solaris, "post-rock" is fair. A less-aggressive Russian Circles? There are no guitar-hero solos or head-scratching poly-rhythmic acrobatics. This is atmospheric and emotional. The production is not drenched in reverb, it is aided by effects to enhance the cinematic quality.

This is walk in the park, solo drive in your car or lie in your bed with headphones music. It can also be fitting background music as it's not exceedingly noisy or obtrusive. Whatever attention you pay to this music you will receive.

The album art shows a colorful, computer-generated sphere that could either represent a microscopic view or something far off in space and it's a nice representation of how one could listen closely or hardly at all and have multiple experiences with Eternal Movement. I'm interested in what else Tides from Nebula will produce. I have an assumption that this group can perform quite well in a live setting, too.
