Mad Hatter's Den: Welcome to the Den

Wow, I thought that Inverse Records had gone under as they've not bothered my inbox for quite a while. Fear not though for here come Mad Hatter's Den who cite Maiden, Priest, Dio, Rainbow, Accept as influences as well as Megadeth and Anthrax. I'd argue that the NWOBHM influences are most easily heard in the bands' music especially on rollicking tracks such as "Blind Leading the Blind" and "Shadow Lord" which are powered along by some very tasty guitars and melodies. If the last forty years had never happened its possible that this would be hailed as a work of genius. Unfortunately the metal genre has a long and proud history and whilst Welcome to the Den is certainly a very good record there's nothing new about it. However, if you like the non-thrash bands mentioned above you will find much to like here especially the tremendous instrumental "Legacy of the Kings".
