Mutoid Man: Helium Head

I do like a nicely crafted press release and the good people at Magic Bullet Records have surpassed themselves with this description of Mutoid Man's work, "A jacked-up album firing on all cylinders as well as a few nitro tanks and rocket boosters opened to the max, Helium Head is like classic rock on bath salts and a case of energy bars. One envisions Brodsky's hands literally combusting as prog-fueled rock leads and hammering riffs reduce speaker cabinets to smouldering piles." Stephen Brodsky (he of combustible hands) of Cave In and Ben Koller of Converge are Mutoid Man and they make quite a noise. From the beginning of "Gnarcissist" until the very end of "The Manimals" we get a full scale aural assault with searing riffs, manic percussion with some fairly cool melodies. One for the young people methinks but good for anybody wanting to shake the cobwebs out.
