Kick: Memoirs

Kick are the brainchild of UK songwriter Mikey Jones and Memoirs is the somewhat belated follow up to 2004's New Horizon. Jones says, 'This is an interesting bunch of songs - I worked harder on the sound and I'm happy that they are out there for public consumption.' Alongside his brother Chris, Mikey Jones has created a nice little melodic rock album. The major influence here is Alice Cooper and this can only be a good thing.

This is very much the kind of album Coop was releasing in the 1980s especially when one considers "Thrill Seeking Junkie" of the opening sequence of "Radio" which is utterly Cooptastic. At times the Cooper-inflected vocals slightly detract from the overall sound as they are too obvious but there are plenty of pop metal tunes here to keep the audience interested.
