Death Angel: The Dream Calls for Blood

Death Angel, now there is a band that you can rely on to release an enthusiastic and proper thrash metal album, not some poor substitute like some try win us over with. Their new recording is called The Dream Calls for Blood following on from the seriously good release Relentless Retribution, as Death Angel keep their musical aggression going.

When I think of Death Angel it's the song "Seemingly Endless Time" from their ACT III album and the accompanying video that always come to mind, the first time I heard it I was hooked and it still remains a great song. And that's the thing about Death Angel they write songs that you don't forget. And while they may not have received the attention they deserved it's sure not for lack of great material.

"Left for Dead" bursts through your speakers as Death Angel fire up and get that thrash metal pumping, "Son of the Morning" and "Fallen" include more strapping metal and those tempo changes sure don't hurt. "The Dream Calls for Blood" is another one thrash fans will relish, Death Angel sound so potent on "Succubus" a track that will leave your ear drums bruised with their brand of pummelling metal. Just when you think "Execution / Don't Save Me" may be toning proceedings down the guitars kick in at breakneck speed and they are off again reeling you in with their latest creation. "Caster Of Shame" is another thrash gem Death Angel still have so much energy in their tanks and they are really dishing it out on The Dream Calls for Blood. Death Angel have one of the sharpest line-ups in thrash metal and a song such as "Territorial Instinct / Bloodlust" sure endorses that claim, this is one killer track taking many twists.

The wolves are back well at least on the cover art that is though Death Angel do sound like a hungry pack, one that is pissed off and dishing out their own metal carnage on The Dream Calls for Blood. Death Angel have done it again The Dream Calls for Blood has to be the best thrash metal album I have heard in 2013.
