Rolling back the years to the Bon Scott fronted AC/DC era these Argentinian rockers wear their hearts on their sleeves. Many bands these days take Scott, the brothers Young and to a lesser extent Beano Johnson as their inspiration with varying degrees of success, Airbourne being the band that are deemed to have got it just right. But 42 Decibel have the chops to challenge Joel O'Keefe and co as being pretenders to the AC/DC throne, something that they prove right from the off with the spellbinding opener 'Scotch Drinker'; if there is a better tribute song to Bon Scott out there then I have yet to hear it. Right from a period in time when denim jacketed hordes would shake their dandruff down at the front of the school disco, this is vintage high voltage rock n roll; and with four of the twelve tracks relating to knocking back a drop or two of the hard stuff it is clear these South Americans are ready to party. 'Long Legged Woman' sounds like it could have been lifted straight from Powerage but the crisp and clear production job places this firmly in the 21st Century.
An AC/DC tribute album in all but name, Hard Rock N Roll is pretty much essential listening for all of the classic hard rock fans out there – don't go looking for anything original about it, just play it loud.
