When Prophecy Fails: Everything Ever, At Once

Following on from their 2012 self titled debut album, When Prophecy Fails hit extremely hard with the Everything Ever, At Once EP. A short explosion of dark, yet memory sticking Progressive themes which pulsate with a brooding energy.

Enochian Theory man Ben Harris-Hayes is not only promoting this band but will be playing bass with Robb (guitar), Jake (drums) and Rory (vocals) when WPF play live, so you know this is no straight forward outfit. Crafted and skilled they are however with the gargantuan slap of "Rite" immediately knocking you sideways through its ferocity, complexity and memorability. The title track doesn't quite live by its name, not feeling the need to throw every trick this band already possesses in your face, instead becoming a prime example of restrained intensity. The shortest track (at 4:38) actually packs most in, "Stairway Wit" initially rushing into view on the back of a grooving riff and punch of drums. However calling vocals and singing melodies hold it all together as things veer from full on assault to fragile beauty. "Letters From A Mute" is almost as schizophrenic in nature, while still remaining focused and pointed.

A completely new find as far as I'm concerned, When Prophecy Fails are one of my personal discoveries of 2013 so far.
