Emmanuel, Tommy and Martin Taylor: The Colonel & The Governor

A friend of mine has raved for years about a certain guitar player named Tommy Emmanuel so my interest was certainly peaked when The Colonel & The Governor arrived in the post.

Australian born Tommy Emmanuel started playing guitar at the age of four and played professionally at the age of six. He has not looked back since. Martin Taylor is a British jazz guitarist who has won multiple awards for his amazing playing style and has worked with the likes of Jeff Beck, Bill Wyman and Gary Burton. This is the duos first collaboration.

The album is a mixture of their own compositions and jazz standards, which the artists have redone stamping these tunes with their own signature sound. This is an excellent album of acoustic jazz/blues that guitar aficionados will really want to hear.

From the album opening "I Won't Last A Day Without You", a blues tinged jazzy affair where both guitarists offer an amazing display of virtuosity to the album closing "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free", where tasty melodies abound, this is one hell of an album.

For a swinging good time look no further than The Colonel & The Governor. The playing is fantastic, the melodies are strong and the songs are excellent. Acoustic guitar never sounded so good. Enjoy!
