Mind Mirror: Wither

The deep resonating tones of Jouni Alho set much of the stall Mind Mirror lay-out, with its unwavering attack revealing a sense of authority on Wither, a four track EP that owes a small debt to Pain Confessor, Iron Maiden and Trivium. However there's a modern melodic twist to "All For Nothing" and "Framing Your Life", while "Entwined" adds a heavier hammer blow to broaden the field of vision and influence. In contrast the title cut works harder to exploit its twin guitar foundation, weaving skilfully through some tasty fret craft and leaving a lasting mark as it does so.

This Finnish outfit have already been in existence for over half a decade, with three previous releases to their name, something which shines through in the confident performances and songwriting showcased here. Mind Mirror would appear to be ready, willing and able to reveal a clear reflection of their inner workings. It is an image well worth taking note of.
