Copernicus: Worthless

Well, I won't dispute the album title, but this is the fourteenth Copernicus album, so there exists a loyal fan base for this music, though I would definitely not consider myself a part of it.

Those Andean flutes at the opening of "Quantum Mechanics", gave me some hope this album would be different than the number of Copernicus releases I have reviewed in the past. However, the album turned into more philosophizing set to horns, guitar, bass, Hammond organ, violin, and an assortment of other instruments. It is a jazzy rendition of perhaps the musician Copernicus' philosophical writings.

On Worthless, Copernicus includes a huge guest list of artists to help bring his vision to fruition. However, Copernicus handles all lead vocals and keyboards.

I am not sure how to write about this. It is more like a poetry or philosophy reading, set to music. Like the kind that used to take place during the Beatnik era of the 1950s and mid - 60s.

On Worthless, it is as if Copernicus is talking to you directly as the music plays on in the background.

If you are open minded and want to hear something completely different, this is a very different kind of experience to most anything in the social media today.
