Impiety: The Impious Crusade

Blackened death metal act Impiety have been around since 1990 and have a ton of full-length and split releases under their belt. This new MCD for Hells Headbangers, The Impious Crusade, features 5 tracks of their venomous assault, with surprisingly good production for a recording of this kind. The guitar riffs of Shyaithan & Nizam Aziz are absolutely huge here, massive even being a better description, and Dizazter's drum blasting off the charts brutal. With the vocals of Shyaithan straddling that fine line between death metal growls and the more raspy screams of black metal, the whole package is quite hard hitting and crushing. As this whole thing is under 20 minutes, there's no room for subtlety, so look for some Gorguts influenced complex death metal on "Prelude (Arrival Of The Assassins)", brutal black metal ferocity on "Commanding Death & Destroy " & the furious title track, and blitzing blackened death metal savagery on the cover of Sorcerer's "Lucifer's Legions". Throw in the equally convincing and pummeling "Commanding Death & Destroy" and you have a brief but punishing little release from these veteran blasphemers.
