Earthling: Dark Path

With absolutely no qualms whatsoever, I can say that Dark Path by Earthling is easily one of the best albums released in 2013 so far. Personally, I hadn't heard of them prior to receiving the album to review and automatically assumed they would be a doom band. Man was that a wrong assumption!

Take all of the best elements of traditional heavy metal, throw it into a blender with thrash, black metal and yes, doom and Earthling would be what you would get. Definitely not fitting into the "modern' metal category of crap like Periphery and other "progressive" bands, Earthling are like a big fuck you to what's popular today.

While the album is only 6 tracks long, it it still more than a good value for your hard earned dollar as each of the songs will have you headbanging and throwing the horns up. With songs that will appeal to fans of Iron Maiden, early Metallica, Venom, Slayer and everything in between, Dark Path is definitely a highlight of 2013.
