UK six piece group Schemata Theory present a metal combination of sorts on Dry Lung Rhetoric a solid debut outing from this group.
Schemata Theory's main strength is in their music which is quite entertaining, three tracks just focus on that music "Crisis Unveiled" is the longest and one of the best metal inclusions on Dry Lung Rhetoric, while the intro "A Dark Dawn" and "A Brighter Future" are much shorter instrumentals. On the remainder vocalists Myles Dyer and Luke Wright offer up two styles clean and a harder screamo mixture that I'm not a big fan of, and I do like plenty of bands who use growls but I'm just not that fond of this kind.
"The album's themes communicate acknowledgement of a sleeping world needing to wake up, With so much evidently in crisis on this planet, the question that must be asked is 'How much longer can we go on turning a blind eye?'"
Metallica and Dream Theater are listed as Schemata Theory influences hence the heavy and challenging powerful music they serve up on Dry Lung Rhetoric. "Perish or Prevail" is the first of the explosive packed numbers, I would expect that "A Complex State" will be one of Dry Lung Rhetoric's more popular songs, "Six into Three" has some cool ideas going on and "The Final Breath" is a thunderous song to end the album. So while Dry Lung Rhetorics is not without merits I can't say that I'm sold on the combination presented on this one.
