Only one album and already a difficult band to categorize: Cosmonks' In Afterburn is a reflective, hyper and mature punk album that is surprisingly literate.
For one thing, these boys are not content to spew the usual punk vitriol; instead, they have written smart and thoughtful lyrics and then built catchy melodies around them. One of the best songs is "Donny's Got The Blues", a shockingly original piece ridden with starts and stops; it's a creative song on a completely unexpected level.
This might just be the punk album for metalheads who don't think they like punk. In Afterburn is a stunning debut from a band that we'll be watching very closely.
