The Burning Crows: Behind The Veil

There has been a real buzz around young upstarts The Burning Crows for a few months now, pushed along on the back of a successful tour with The Quireboys and fired up performance at Hard Rock Hell festival in North Wales. Add to the fact that the band had been dispatched to the legendary Rockfield studios to record their full length debut album (itself supported by a 100% funded Pledge campaign) and it is easy to understand why Behind The Veil has been touted as one of the most anticipated hard rock debuts to come out of the UK in 2013.

Kicking off with a pair of up tempo rockers in 'High' and 'All The Way' it is clear that the Crows have channeled the energy, swagger and sheer adrenalin of their live performance into the studio. Frontman Whippz has the voice to match the outrageous personality and charisma, supported by an image that is straight from the 80's soaked heyday of the Sunset Strip. Lance Daniels (guitars), Will Lockett (bass) and Chris Chapman (drums) complete the line-up and the vibe on Behind the Veil suggests these guys are a tight band of brothers that feed off each other's energy to deliver an album of kick ass classic hard rock and roll. When they drop the pace ('Here I Am') the results are no less impressive, Whippz vocal taking on a soulful and heartfelt delivery for this reminiscent ballad. At the other end of the scale is 'The Queen', a simple yet highly effective retro rocker that shows The Burning Crows at their best. Another track worth singling out for a mention is the title track where Daniels is really let of the leash to provide some fiery riffs to go with the insistently catchy chorus.

A damn fine album that lives up to the hype, Behind The Veil has proven to be well worth the wait. Watch these Crows soar…
