Martyr AD: On Earth As It Is In Hell

Great beginning and really promising things up front from this Minneapolis outfit and its album. Hell, there are even a few really hot moments that come late in the album. But on the whole, the middle of the record sags like your uncle Stanley's britches after sundown. Moreover, there's not much yet that distinguishes Martyr AD from many of its peers, though the slow, slow, doomy kinda things that go on here (especially during the penultimate track "Into Stone") do much rule. I'd like the sweat off the band's amps to hear more of that. A pretty good, not great outing with some suggestion that there's always hope for more.
