st.quentin: Reality

Dream Theater, Metallica, Spock's Beard and Rush are some of those that have inspired the group that is the subject of this review, that group is the German progressive rock act st. quentin and they have produced an alluring debut album called Reality.

Reality's songs exhibit a range of heaviness as the rock heads into the metal zone on their tempting new musical creation, and it's not some laid bad commercial style album merely presenting straightforward unchallenging patterns. Once Reality progresses you soon find st. Quentin have an appealing style, their vocalist has a strong and distinctive manner and musically they are both technical and adventurous.

"We Are One" shows many sides to this band's sound and just how creative and powerful they can be, they do get quite musically animated as st. quentin's debut opens convincingly, and next they perform an entertaining progressive rocker "Right Here, Right Now". "Fiction And Dream" has more colorful stick work from their drummer who is also not too shabby at all with his foot patterns as the band demonstrate their technical flair on an extended instrumental passage. "Something" reveals more of their welcome composing style as does "Reality". "Quintis" is a more than welcome addition as you can't go wrong with a clever instrumental and this one does get quite heavy proving this band could quite easily turn its hand to progressive metal. Finally and just as they began with a lengthy track st. quentin close with an epic twisting rock tune "Enjoy The Pain" with some cool metal components boosting the charm of this song.

st.quentin's Reality provides music fans with the opportunity to hear a fresh sounding progressive album that is certainly worthy of their time.
