Penksa, Pawel: Pandemonium

Pawel Penksa is a musician and composer from Poland and has been associated with bands like Night Rider and Night Rider Symphony. Pandemonium is his debut solo record and is a rather nice little EP clocking in at nearly half an hour long. Penksa himself plays keyboards and is joined by Kuba Szostak(Night Rider) on guitars alongside Robert Kazanowski(Night Mistress) with the voice of Blazej Grygiel(Batstab, Hellectricity.)

Unsurprisingly the keyboards are the dominant instrument on this jolly fetching EP and at its best the sound is reminiscent of Dream Theater musically as much of the time Penska channels his inner Jordan Rudess and/or Derek Sherinian which very much gives a comfortable feeling to the record as much of it mines familiar territory. I very much enjoyed Pandemonium and hopefully the future will see Pawel Penska stretch himself and fully express himself on his own terms. I look forward to hearing more from him.
