Fatal Impact are one band that like to pack a punch in their music, a hefty kick punch that is as "The Arrival" shows the drums feature prominently in the mix and it really does suits their style of music. Fatal Impact perform a variety of melodic metal with some power and progressive elements and an atmospheric vibe at times. Esoteria is the second album from this group, their first Law Of Repulsion the band released themselves back in 2008.
There is something about Fatal Impact that I find really appealing especially with memorable tracks like "A View To Hell" as the band lay down a catchy riff and have me hooked. Actually it brought thoughts of what Mystic Prophecy or Brainstorm two of the best heavy riff creators may sound like if they went progressive. I'm not so sure that the sound is totally appropriate, but as this was a download which I have for this review I would be inclined to make an allowance. As given the quality difference that can occur between the formats I would assume that the CD version would be superior, and more importantly it didn't detract from the listening experience.
Intense and powerful best describes the start of "A New Era" with the chorus proclaming "A New Era Has Begun" and maybe it has as they combine to impress, "End Time Theater" is very good I like how they incorporated the keys on this and the guitar work. "The Blind Mans Eye" is such a heavy catchy tempo alternating grinder. Fatal Impact show their ability to keep their songs interesting no matter what the tempo or feel, the musical variation of Esoteria ensures they don't simply blend into each other.
Fatal Impact have demonstrated on Esoteria they possess the capability to release something quite special down the track. This latest album leaves a very favorable impression and I will certainly be keeping my eyes on this three piece group from Norway.
