Gama Bomb: The Terror Tapes

I do like it when PR bods put some effort into their work. Calling virtually unknown artists, "legends" or albums which nobody knows about let alone bought, "classic," really irks me. So well done to whoever at AFM penned this;" GAMA BOMB's fourth album The Terror Tapes, released in April on AFM Records, tears the old speed metal formula a new asshole, and then buys it a pint." I wouldn't overly agree with that statement but I like the way it is expressed.

Arguably the main problem with The Terror Tapes is that the songs can't possibly live up to the Zappa-like titles. "Smoke the Blow with Willem Dafoe", "Beverly Hills Robocop", "The Cannibals Are in the Streets (Therefore) All Flesh Must Be Eaten", and "Shitting Yourself to Live" all suggest either genius or a massive amount of piss taking. I'd suggest that Gama Bomb are somewhere in between the two poles.

What is great about Gama Bomb though is the sheer sense of fun they bring to the scene powered mainly by the guitar work of Domo Dixon and John Roche with "Terrorscope" being the stand out track and sure-to-be live favourite. The Terror Tapes won't convert the uncoverted but if thrash works for you in any way, shape or form you'll find plenty here to get excited by.
