Laneslide: Flying High

Laneslide are Frank Vestry- lead vocals, Bruno Kraler - lead & rhythm Guitars, John Billings – bass, Dominik Hülshorst – drums and ...wait for it... Alessandro Del Vecchio - keyboards & grand piano. In a massive departure from the rest of Avenue of Allies roster they play a mix of UK Grime mixed with hip-hop beats. Actually, they don't, they play accomplished if not exactly stunningly original melodic rock as evidence by the title track which should get anyone's fist punching.

Wait a minute, I hear you say, who are the guest stars designed to get the genre fans interested? Why it's only Erik Mårtensson and Michael Bormann who provide backing vocals. According to Avenue of Allies, "their hard hitting yet very catchy brand of Melodic Rock is powerful, passionate and it has all the trademarks to let it stand out from the bulk of releases coming out this spring." That is where we disagree somewhat. I would possibly suggest that this is the strongest release from their label in the first quarter of 2013, but it suffers from not having enough in it to distance itself from the pack. The first three tracks are excellent examples of European melodic rock right now but over the whole album little else reaches the same heights which is a shame.
