Resonance Room: Untouchable Failure

Strong metal with a dim haunting atmospheric feel is what you can find on Untouchable Failure, the second album from the band Resonance Room. A dark gothic progressive metal group Resonance Room came to be in 2008. On Untouchable Failure Resonance Room are taking the opportunity to expand on the songs of their debut Unspoken culminating in a pleasing mixture of progressive, doom and gothic music. Vocals are clean and also powerful when required, they effectively add to the emotion and feel on this album and combine impressively with that music which they present.

So then with these changes in place as you would expect to be the case Untouchable Failure shows that Resonance Room aren't stuck in a singular musical mode. They tastefully display this on "The Great Insomnia" with a lesson on how to be diverse, alluring and unpredictable. As the song progresses that solid rhythm section gets the tempo flowing. Injecting more of those rather lively drum patterns into their heavy music which is something you find isn't just limited to the first two songs. "Cages Of Dust" has many heavy driving sections subdued briefly as the band switch course for a softer passage. "Naivety And Oblivion" is very good as heavy guitar riffs and motivating double kicks are utilised effectively and the restrained parts are also engaging, there is a Porcupine Tree odd time kind of feel about the music at the beginning of "Outside The Maze" another powerful song. "Prometheus" is an example of this band cutting back the momentum and still presenting a strong emotional feel.

With Untouchable Failure the Italian group Resonance Room have presented us with a most worthwhile entertaining recording.
