Unclean, The: The Eagle

From Ohio comes The Unclean, and their self-released sophomore album The Eagle delivers bluesy, no frills, no nonsense, heavy rock 'n' roll for all those listeners who like things simple and hard rockin'. You have to give the band credit, as it sounds like they had a lot of fun putting The Eagle together, and there are a handful of crunchy, Clutch-meets-ZZ Top styled rockers here, like "Million Dollar Jezabel", "Not So Bad", "Strange King of Living", as well as the Mountain inspired "Away Too Long", each one dripping with sweat, stale beer, and thick riffs. One of the highlights though is the emotional Black Sabbath/Danzig/Lynyrd Skynyrd influenced number "Been Gone", complete with some whisky soaked vocals & plenty of riffs from Bremmy.

The Eagle is fun stuff, perhaps not the most polished CD you'll hear this year, but if you like groove laden stoner rock/metal with a touch of '70s influence and some Southern rock attitude, you've come to the right place.
