Once again LORD have recorded a gripping album, after the electrifying metal releases Ascendence and Set In Stone we have the welcome return of one of Australia's best melodic metal groups with Digital Lies.
The band began as a solo project for vocalist/guitarist and keyboardist "Lord Tim" Grose. LORD continues on from his earlier group Dungeon who were another fine Aussie metal outfit. With an impressive track record having accumulated a memorable collection of albums with those infectious songs like "Pariah" and "The Other Side".
Intense catchy riffs explode producing the compelling "Betrayal Blind" topped with a great melodic chorus; this is one of Digital Lies best songs which leaves you craving for repeated listens. The vocals get a mix of the clean and dark with the metallic heavy groove of the title track "Digital Lies" with another sweeping guitar solo. "Point Of View" races along and is sure to keep the speed fans happy, and another fine melodic metal number is "Walk Along". "2D Person in a 3D World" has more of that LORD upbeat vigorous metal, and "Final Seconds" is a real firecracker packed with explosive music.
"Because We Can" is a non stop instrumental shred fest with the masterful and scintillating guitar work of Lord put on show blazing for the duration. "The Chalkboard Prophet "commences with such an imposing feel then the gripping riffs come to the fore and the drums kick in hooking you instantly, as united it just sounds so totally awesome. Closing the album with an epic prologue is "Battle of Venarium" and those seriously impressive guitars of LORD are soaring once more, the version I received also has the bonus track "Footsteps In The Sound" a further agreeable vibrant song.
In 2013 LORD's fourth full length release Digital Lies is undoubtedly one of the years top metal albums I give it 4.75 out of 5.
