DBA: Pictures of You

Few fans of progressive or pop rock will be unfamiliar with the name Geoff Downes, keyboardist for the world famous Buggles, ASIA and YES. Geoff Downes actually co-wrote the Buggle's hit 'Video Killed the Radio Star', and Asia's famous, 'Heat of the Moment' and 'Only Time Will Tell'. Chris Braide, on the other hand is a name most may not be familiar with, but Braide is an award winning British singer, songwriter and producer based out of Los Angeles. He is a recipient of the acclaimed Ivor Novelo award as well as both ASCAP and Billboard awards. Chris Braide has recently written and produced songs for David Guetta, Lana del Rey, Sia Furler, Christina Aguilera and Yuna.

So, if you put two accomplished professionals together you should come up with something special…right? Well, of course. This is an excellent album full of suites, 'Sunday News Suite', which most prog – rockers love, inventive and progressive keyboards that fill the soundscape full of new sounds. The vocals fit the keyboard inspired music perfectly.

My favorites are 'Ride the Waves', 'Songs that Can Heal', and 'Sky Sailor', along with the entire 'Sunday News Suite'. I think these tracks rise to the level Downe's has achieved in the past. They are definite keepers.

I recommend this album highly amongst your purchases of 2013. If you are an Asia/Buggles/Yes fan…this is an obvious no-brainer.
