Olof "Enforcer" Wikstrand – guitars & vocals, Jonas Wikstrand – drums, Joseph Tholl – guitars and bassist Tobias Lindkuist are the members of Enforcer and Death by Fire is the follow up to 2010's Diamonds and is another solid, nay enjoyable album . Doing away with the utterly inessential introductory tune "Bells of Hades" Enforcer bounce straight into the fray like over-excited puppies on "Death rides this Night" which is as MWOBHM as it gets. Galloping bass? Check. Lightning solos? Check? Helium-voiced vocals? Check.
It's easy to mock but Enforcer purvey their metal with such unflinching confidence and passion that if you are a fan of all things true and metal it's difficult not to enjoy this album. Yes, it does sound as if the last thirty years haven't happened. If you want an energetic take on early Maiden with smoother vocals with a nod to Metallica's golden period (ie the start of their career) then look no further. Your life won't be changed but you will have a good time and in many ways, that's all we can ask for.
Best tracks; "Mesmerized By Fire" for the excellent guitar work and "Death Rides this Night".
